Tricks
The Golden PhoenixLayla performs this trick during the "Romeo and Juliet" show. It is difficult and requires a lot of experience on the trapeze and timing is crucial for the success of the manuever and safety of the acrobat. The "Phoenix" is one of Layla's best manuevers.
The Triple Illusion
This trick is done by Mia, Anna and Sora in the "Cinderella" show and represents the first important role Sora has in a show. Sora discovers that not all the acrobats at the Stage are distant and befriends Mia and Anna. The critics approve of their performance and the show is a success.
The Demon Spiral
The chaotic trick invented by May to participate in the Circus Festival with Leon. She made it up using only her left arm since her right one had been wounded in the show "Dracula". She says it's a maneuver made especially for Leon because only he could anticipate the movements of her arm and catch her in time. She wins and participates in the Circus Festival with Leon as her partner.
The Angel's Act (Circus Festival)
Sora remembers Yuri also has a Phoenix Ticket (a ticket awarded to winners of the Festival, which would guarantee her participation) and flies to Paris to look for him. He agrees to have her as his partner and they start training. Along the way they meet other performers and learn the "unwritten rules" of the Festival. On the day of the performance, Sora is very nervous due to what two other performers have done and begins to doubt herself.
The Eternal Illusion
The maneuver performed by Rosetta Passel and May Wong using the trapeze. This was used in the Swan Lake show and it was Rosetta's second trapeze act. It also consolidates the friendship between Rosetta and May and teaches them both a valuable lesson about teamwork.
Shows
Romeo and JulietSora Naegino makes her not so glittering stage debut in the role of the bunny, while Layla Hamilton performs her famous "Golden Phoenix", a maneuver accomplished only by her. Because of a misunderstanding, Sora has to master the "Phoenix" in a week or leave the Kaleido Stage.
Cinderella
This is the first show in which Sora gets a bigger part: one of the 3 Godmothers (the other 2 are Mia and Anna). With a lot of pressure on their shoulders, the 3 must come up with a manuever in time for the show. Layla and Yuri star in this show as Cinderella and the Prince.
The Diabolo Battle
Sora performs in this with Rosetta. Sora agrees to help Rosetta perform "better" (with emotion and not like a machine) or leave the stage if she fails. After the performance, Rosetta discovers she has found a friend and stays at the Kaleido Stage.
The Little Mermaid (remake)
Layla leaves the Kaleido Stage to star in a movie so Sora has the chance to get her first main part. However, she tries to imitate Layla's performance from the previous shows, which makes the public compare her to Layla, thus not showing too much interest any more. Sora is able to pull through by creating "her own Little Mermaid" and completely changing the theme of the show. Anna stars in the role of the Prince.
Arabian Nights
In this show, Sora co-stars with Layla in the role of a pirate rebelling against her captain. The two train hard on a boat and learn how to work together, Layla teaching Sora the basics and aiding her. Although Sora makes a mistake when on stage, the show is a success.
Freedom
Since Yuri plans to close down the Kaleido Stage and makes a circus of his own, safe of injuries, many performers leave and only few are left - not enough for a regular, decent show. In this stressing situation, Mia finds a way out, directing a show about the feelings of hatred and peace among men, whose stars are Layla, Sora, herself, Anna and the few acrobats who stayed behind.
The show at the Marine Park
Sora, Mia, Anna, Sarah and other cast members are fired and have to figure out a way to earn their existence. They are accepted to perform at the Marine Park but even though their performance is successful a Masked Star appears out of nowhere and does a dangerous stunt, receiving all the attention and applause. The manager of the park thinks the Masked Star is part of Sora's group which leads to Sora pretending to be the Star to earn the money. However, Sora is exposed and the Masked Star doesn't appear any more. One day, two kids are in danger, having climbed up a tower with an insecure ladder to see the show better. Sora and the Masked Star team up and manage to save the kids just in time.
The Mystical Act/Legenday Manuever
Tried by many but never accomplished due to the high level of danger. Sora and Layla decide to try it before it is too late, the Kaleido Stage being on the brink of collapse because of Yuri. Kalos, the owner of Kaleido Stage, puts them through intense training in the Grand Canyon. Layla hurts her right shoulder but manages to continue in spite of the pain growing sharper each day. In the end, she ends up in hospital but refuses to give up.
Saiyuki
Because of her shoulder injury, Layla leaves the Stage. Leon is hired to replace her and is set to star with Sora in this show. He drops out just before the performance, claiming that Sora is no match for his talent. Sora thinks of a trick but the crowd doesn't like it too much. In spite of this, Leon's opinion of Sora changes a bit.
Dracula
A new rival to Sora shows up at the Stage: May Wong. She got the highest grades in the audition and is determined to take Sora's place. For the new production, the two have to battle...on ice! May wins and performs as Mina Murray and Leon performs as Dracula. At one point Leon lets May fall on purpose and catches her in the last moment, injuring her right arm and making her unable to perform. He blames her timing and lack of imagination and doesn't admit being guilty of anything.
Salome in Vegas
This show takes place on off-Broadway and its main character is Layla. After injuring her shoulder in the Mystical Act, she accepts the offer of performing in this and calls Sora to help her with the scene of Salome's dance. However, May hears about this and follows Sora to New York. Layla decides to let them both perform and so begins the battle between Sora and May to determine who is the best!
Kids' Stage
Kalos agrees to have a show especially for kids, so Sora takes matters into her own hands. Mia, Anna, Marion, Jonathan and Ken join in and make the shows of the "little stage" a success. Marion is the star, facing her fears and performing on the trampoline just like her mother.
Romeo and Juliet (remake)
This remake features Leon and May as the main characters but Leon drags Sora in too in the middle of the performance. Sora, who had lost her contract at the Kaleido Stage due to failing at the Circus Festival, is taken by surprise and can only try to exit the spotlight. She is stopped by Leon, who doesn't allow her to go back, and decides to perform after all, "heating up the stage" and making May perform more passionately. Mistaking Sora for someone else, Leon loses concentration and falls from the trapeze, ending up in hospital.
The Kenneth Motors show
The acrobats at the Kaleido Stage are asked to attend a showroom hosted by the owner of the Kaleido Stage, Mr. Kenneth. At first, May argues with Sora but then agrees that Sora's idea for the show is good and begins to understand her "rival"'s way of thinking.
Swan Lake
Sora is put through intense training by Leon, her partner for the new Kaleido Stage show. She pulls through only after numerous wounds because she wants to perform the act perfectly, without the immitation Leon thought was best for her level of performance. Before the show, though, an unexpected character makes and appearance and demands the right to compete against Sora for the lead role of Odette.
